2nd Year French Exchange
On Thursday 28th April 20 of our 2nd year French students headed
off to Paris with Ms. McGrath and Mrs. Leech in a very different
capacity, this time to experience the French way of life for almost a week.
Each student had already made contact with their ‘correspondante’ and went on to spend 6 nights with their host family. Naturally, this was a bit daunting at first but credit is due to our young French students who coped very well and immersed themselves into French family life. Each morning we met up outside “Collège La Fontaine” in Antony. We made good use of the ‘Metro’ and started off with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre Museum and a boat trip on the Seine (La Bateau Mouche).
Students spent the weekend with their host families, participating in family activities, such as experiencing the local market in Antony, going to Versailles or Parc De Sceaux, or simply shopping and ‘chilling out’, French style.
Eurodisney featured on this trip too – as did a morning in school in “Collège La Fontaine”. Classes each lasted one hour but lunch in ‘la cantine’ helped to make up for it!
Many of the students are still in touch with their ‘correspondantes’ and plan to visit each other. Overall, it was a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience for both students and teachers.
