We travelled to Rome in October 2015 as part of both a religious and art history school trip. We stayed in “Hotel Noto” for three nights and spent four days touring Rome.
THE VATICAN STATE
On Wednesday the 21st of October we went to the Vatican for a Papal audience. We travelled by bus to get there. At 11 O’clcok Pope Francis gave a blessing to the audience. After this he said mass in Italian. Cardinals were there to speak in English, German, French, and Spanish. At the end we all said the ‘Our Father’ together in Italian.
Another place we visited was the Colosseum. We walked to the Colosseum from our Hotel. It was about a 20 minute walk. It was a chance for us to see all the buildings and how different life in Rome is. When we reached the Colosseum we all took pictures then split up for about an hour to explore the building.
As it was a very busy city, we had great adventures on public transport, especially at “rush hour”! We saw how the locals live and we saw the highlights of this amazingly beautiful and historical city. It was lovely to see the Roman Forum and imagine how it looked in its time. Shopping was a highlight too, as was the pizza!!
