WHO TO TALK TO:
Students and/or parents should report bullying behaviour to any member of staff they feel comfortable with. Reports can be made online too with the QR code on this poster. From this, the main point of contact will be the year head who will put in place our Bí Cineálta anti-bullying procedures.
STAFF WILL:
Listen. They may also take notes. They will ensure the students safety as far as possible, and refer the incident to the year head. The year head will begin investigations and put in place a plan to support the student(s). The student support team and parents of all involved will also be notified.
MEDIATION:
The primary aim of these procedures is to investigate and deal with bullying, through resolving the situation and restoring any relationship between the parties involved. The year head and/or a member of the student support team will lead the mediation process, where such a process is necessary.
RESTORATIVE PRACTICE:
Restorative practice helps everyone involved in a bullying incident talk openly about what happened, understand each other's feelings, and work together to fix the harm caused. It is a group effort to make things right and ensure it doesn't happen again.
FOLLOW UP:
After 20 days, in cases where the year head determines that the bullying behaviour has not been addressed, and that further bullying has occurred the year head will report and record this on the student’s file, as outlined in our Bí Cineálta policy.
